11/26/2018 0 Comments Car Rides: Pros vs ConsIt’s times like this where I don’t know whether to be grateful or upset. It’s like the calm before the storm.
Pro: I get a nice and quiet 35 min car ride home. Con: This little nap re-energized them. They turn into gremlins AFTER they encountered water. 2nd Con: Once we get home, I don’t want anyone to interrupt my peace. 3rd Con: They, The now gremlins, interrupt my peace.

11/13/2018 1 Comment They eat too much!!!!![]() I know many moms have experienced their children’s reeved up appetites during the summer. But I think my kids have taken things to a new level. I cook breakfast every morning. Yes, every morning my kids get a hot, loving meal each day. They eat with smiles on their faces around 7am. Afterwards, they continue with getting ready for school which includes packing their own lunch and snack. At 9am, the kids are joyfully eating 2nd breakfast at school. I found that out about a few years ago. My kids eat 2 breakfasts, like little Hobbits from the Shire. But that’s not the shocking part. The shocking part happened when the twins teachers stated that they loved the tray-lunch. Ok, tray-lunch is just slang for school lunch. I guess because it’s served on a tray. Nevertheless, I corrected them both. Me: No, my kids don’t eat school lunch. I fix their lunch every morning. Teacher: Oh I know. But they also get a school lunch too. Me: (Head cocked to the side with a quizzical look.) Teacher: Yeah, they eat a school lunch and the lunch you pack them. Me: Huh? How? They only have 25 mins after they get thru the lunch line. Teacher: I don’t know, but they do it!!!!! They eat good everyday. (Teachers walk away, escorting the kids, including mine, to the cafeteria.) So as I walk back to my office, I am puzzled. My kids eat 2 breakfasts and now 2 lunches??? Are my breakfasts and lunches not fulfilling? Or are my kids just extra greedy? I pondered about this most of the day. Fast-forward to the afternoon, the kids are in the library. Are they reading? NO!!!! They are eating a snack because they are hungry. Now we are in the car, and they are complaining. About what you asks? They are complaining because they are hungry, yet again. As soon as we get home, they have a snack. Then they ravage dinner as if they haven’t ate all day. Then they look at me with 2 questions in their eyes… #1 - What’s for dessert? #2 - What’s for breakfast tomorrow. Current eating schedule: 7am - 1st Breakfast 9am - 2nd Breakfast 11am - Snacktime during class 1:30pm - 1st and 2nd lunch 4pm - Snack in Library 5pm - Snack at home 7pm - Dinner 730pm - Dessert If they eat like this during the school year, I’m not ready for the summer. Sidebar: Elijah once told his Sunday School Teacher that I hadn’t fed him all week. Of course that was a lie. |
